Thankfully, in this day and age we have the internet to help us make our search a little bit easier. While stated experience looks great on paper there is really nothing better than real customer experience and reviews. Often these reviews contain progress photos etc. and give a true unbiased picture of an actual project completed by the company.
Secondly, when you narrow down a few options call or email those companies and get some background information and references. Although this may seem like a lot of work a truly reputable company will have no problem furnishing that information.
Lastly, visit the business, if they have a showroom take note of how it is put together, the displays, the flooring, and other work that has been performed by the actual company itself.
Take a mental note of the cleanliness and organization of the space, are things put away? Are there finished display areas that give an accurate picture of attention to detail? Take photos! Was the work completed by the company you are visiting? Ask lots of questions, is the staff trained and able to answer questions? If they can't answer a question can they point you to the direction of a knowledgeable staff member who can? These small yet important details can be what sets one company apart from all of the others.
In conclusion, researching the contractor, visiting their place of business, educating yourself and asking all of the right questions can be vital in ensuring you choose a reputable company to complete your project.
